AX¿S

Rachel Axis-Taane aka AX¿S is the queen of “winging it”.

She is fresh to the scene, after teaching herself to mix in lockdown. So far it’s brought her to stages supporting her husband Tiki Taane, Liquid Lowdown, Shipwrecked Festival and now in her home town Ōtautahi at one of her most favourite summer festivals, Electric Avenue.

The Ministry in the early 2000s was the gateway to bass music for AX¿S with her fake ID in hand, she recalls Noisia, Roni Size & Dre Truth, DJ Hype and The Upbeats being some of her first gigs.

The genres that AX¿S likes to mix are: grimey heavy DnB, Deep House, Liquid DnB, and Amapiano. What she mixes on the day is usually decided the day before, or when she susses out the crowd and what the energy is like.
