Summer Thieves

Known for their ability to start the party with their indie-pop inspired tunes, Summer Thieves have gone from playing Dunedin house parties to NZ’s biggest stages, with 2021 bringing the release of their new album Paradise Down The Road.

Cutting their teeth as a “Scarfie” covers band in NZ’s deep-south, Summer Thieves quickly began performing originals as their fanbase expanded. After releasing a run of singles, 2017 saw the release of their debut album, Warped, a 12-track journey laced with catchy hooks & hypnotic rhythms produced by Tiki Taane. The following years saw the band become a regular on the festival circuit, with multiple performances across the likes of Rhythm & Vines, Bay Dreams, Rhythm & Alps & Soundsplash.

2020 saw the band return with an extended five-piece lineup, and the release of their anticipated follow-up EP, Bandaids & Lipsticks. The EP saw them expanding their indie sound, incorporating more of a polished-pop feel, while continuing to embrace their party-starting roots.

In September Summer Thieves return with their new single, ‘Saturday Night’. Leaning into the indie-rock aspect of their sound, the track is built around a bassline that sticks with you after listening, alongside The Strokes-style guitars interplaying the vocals. Co-written with Joel Shadbolt & Brad Kora (L.A.B) ‘Saturday Night’ showcases the mature sound of their second album Paradise Down The Road, set for release on November 19 2021.

The upcoming summer is jam-packed with over 15 shows including headline slots at Rhythm & Vines (Garden Stage), Soundsplash (main stage), Electric Avenue, That Weekend and opening slots for L.A.B shows across NZ and Australia.
